What a month for Total Taekwondo! Our team brought fire, focus, and fierce determination to not one, but two major events this July – the Scorpion Open (27th July 2025) and the Horizon Sparring Competition in Manchester (20th July 2025). Every athlete made us incredibly proud, showing not just technical skill but mental toughness, team spirit, and sportsmanship at the highest level.
Scorpion Open – 27th July 2025
The Scorpion Open delivered a fantastic day of competition. A standout moment was when Ethan and Marcus faced off in the final of the -36kg child category.
It was one of the most impressive matches we've ever seen from the boys. Facing off against an opponent is one challenge, but stepping into the ring against a close teammate and friend is something else entirely. Both fought with skill, respect, and incredible spirit. It was a proud moment for the team and for their coach.
Results:
Harry – Gold
Ethan – Gold
Marcus – Silver
Millie – Quarter Finals
Congratulations to all our athletes. A special mention goes to Harry, who not only took gold but also represented the team with maturity and leadership throughout the event.
Horizon Sparring Competition – 20th July 2025
The Horizon Sparring Competition was another strong showing from the team. Total Taekwondo athletes demonstrated excellent technique, composure, and courage particularly when matched against taller and more experienced opponents. They stayed focused, took guidance from their coach, and rose to every challenge with confidence.
We’re especially proud of the mental resilience shown. Not one of the children cried in the ring, which is a testament to the mental strength training we’ve been focusing on. Learning to stay composed under pressure is part of becoming a stronger, more complete martial artist.
Results:
7 Golds
5 Silvers
An incredible team effort all around.
Thank You & Acknowledgements
Thank you to all the parents who supported both the coaching staff and the players. Your encouragement and trust are a vital part of the team's success.
A special thank you to Harry Brettell for not only winning gold, but also stepping up as a brilliant assistant and role model throughout the day. Your leadership made a real difference.
And sincere thanks to Henry Watkinson from Hwan Yeong Taekwondo for stepping in to coach our Total players when needed. That kind of support shows the true spirit of martial arts.
We couldn’t be prouder of how our team performed this month. The growth, strength, and unity on display were exactly what Total Taekwondo stands for.
Here’s to more success ahead.
